Canada - my home - is chock full of incredible vistas like this one. One could spend a lifetime chasing a myriad of views in a country as large and regionally dynamic as ours is...
A perfect fallen leaf, beautifully adorned by water droplets by the recent rain. To some, it might elicit a sense of maturity and finality as autumn slowly gives way to the dormancy of winter. To me however, I see it as a reminder of its vitally important role; providing organic nourishment back to the soil for the return of new life in the distant spring. A creative exploration of our world as we navigate 'positive' vs 'negative' realities. An image I captured at a time when the pandemic was beginning to take hold of our society. Solo photo walk outings into near-to-home landscapes gave me plenty of time to ponder the future and reflect upon our once cherished and much taken for granted freedoms.
Lake Ontario coastal marshlands are wonderful places to explore and observe with a camera in hand and some free time to spare. Wait long enough and interesting compositions will appear to take shape, like this cluster of white birches starkly contrasting their dark forest surroundings on a moody fall day.
While on a countryside excursion around Italy's Umbria region, our driver and guide took us along some back roads dividing vast wheat fields. He seemed a bit surprised (and rather amused) when I excitedly asked him to pull over by this unassuming and ancient Roman aqueduct to take some photos. I explained to our guide (who had grown up in the area) that if he ever traveled to Canada, he would enjoy many stunningly beautiful vistas - but not likely any ancient aqueducts!
A local treasure, Edwards Gardens in Toronto Canada is a popular setting to explore for locals and visitors alike, especially in spring and fall, but year-round. Full of manicured flowerbeds, mature trees and gardens, and one of my favourite sculpture-fountains. A beautiful place to spend a day recharging one's batteries.
